You can help the cause for life by recognizing and honoring the value of human life in every season and state of life. Your church or group can do this year-round. The nationally recognized Sanctity of Human Life Sunday falls each year on the Sunday closes to January 22, the date of the original presidential proclamation that designated the day.
Established in 1984 via presidential proclamation, this day is an opportunity for us as members of the Body of Christ to thank God for his creation. Here’s an excerpt from the proclamation: “I call upon the citizens of this blessed land to gather on that day in homes and places of worship to give thanks for the gift of life, and to reaffirm our commitment to the dignity of every human being and the sanctity of each human life.” Read the full proclamation here. Sanctity of Human Life Sunday is nationally recognized on the Sunday in January closest to the original proclamation date of the 22nd, falling next on January 21, 2018.
Your church can help by recognizing Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. Free bulletin inserts and posters are available in English or Spanish for your church or group. The materials are also available for download if you prefer to print them on your own. Check back later in the year to preview and request materials.
Genesis 1:27 was chosen for our 2017 theme: So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female He created them. When God created mankind in His own image, He placed intrinsic value on each human life. As image-bearers of God, we have the responsibility to affirm and celebrate the sanctity of human life in every season and state of life. It is important that we proclaim this truth and come together as the body of Christ to honor and uphold the sanctity of each human life.
There are many ways to uphold the value of human life year-round and throughout your day to day activities.
